The water temps are in the mid eighties and the lake is clear. The summer pattern is in full swing with the fish piling up on the south end of the lake and have been thick on most of the creek channel mouths. In the morning look in the the deep pockets about half way back in Orr, Flowery Branch, Two, Four and Six Mile. Most of the fish have been in 40 to 60 feet of water around the huge bait schools that have been forming up.
As the day progresses move out towards the creek channel mouth and look in 70 to 100 feet. Down lined herring have been working well, but make sure to change them out often to keep a lively bait down at the 30 to 50 foot range. Power reeling a 2oz WhoopAss Jig has also produced well when they will not hit the live bait. When you lose the school, start trolling a 4 arm Captain Mack's U-Rig with 1 oz Chipmunk Jigs and 6" Curl Tail Trailers 140 to 160 feet back. The lead core continues to produce as well with 1 oz Pulse Jigs paired with 7" Bass Assassin Shad Bodies.
If you can't make a morning trip then don't worry; the afternoon bite has been really good and will continue through the summer. Don't let the heat bother you because the fishing is hot as well.
