May Lake Lanier Striper Fishing Report

The water temperatures are heating up and so is the striper fishing!  The water is clear on the main lake and the north end has some stain.  The backs of the creeks are a bit more stained with the recent rains.  Water temperatures are in the 69-72 degree range lake-wide.

The most consistent fishing has been on the north end of the lake from River Forks to the Little River/Wahoo area.  The first couple of hours of the day have seen a good topwater bite with Spooks, Chug Bugs and Redfins on the primary points.  Make sure you put out a couple of herring on flat lines while you are throwing the plugs.  Only put out a couple of baits because it has been most productive to "run and gun" these points.  If the fish are there, they wil show themselves pretty quickly so don't hang out too long if you don't get a bite.  If you do find a group of fish, go ahead and put out a couple more herring on planer boards and try to keep up with the spotted bass.  The stripers are also starting to group up and have been suspending off the points.  In other words, put out the U-Rigs and have a ball.

Thank you for making April our best month yet!  We are looking forward to a record May as well.
