May Lake Lanier Striper Fishing Report

May is turning out to be a great month for striped bass fishing on Lake Lanier.  There has been a good topwater bite on Redfins and Zara Spooks early in the morning.  This topwater bite is starting to slow down, but you might catch that bonus fish while you are pulling herring 75-100' back on the flatlines and planer boards.  Don't be afraid to add a split shot or two on the baits that will be in a little deeper water.  Try these presentations around points and reef markers on the main lake and on secondary points in the major creeks on the north end of the lake.

As the sun gets up check the 40-50' depths off the same points, but also steep banks, with downlines 20-30' down.  If the wind comes up, don't worry, put on a Captain Mack's umbrella rig and keep catching fish on the wind blown side of the same areas.

May striper fishing on Lake Lanier has been fantastic and June looks to be great as well.
