March Lake Lanier Striper Fishing Report
|
Spring is here and the fishing, like the weather, is getting better and better every day. It has been a long, slow winter and while the crappie fishing has been great to pass the time (and make some mighty fine dining), it is time to chase stripers.
The water temperatures are in the high 50's to low 60's and warming up. The fishing will get better and better as the temps get into the 60's. Our most productive methods right now have been flat lines and planer boards with herring. We are also casting Captain Mack's Bucktails with Zoom fluke trailers to boiling fish as well as to the banks for that bonus fish.
As spring progresses, these techniques will continue to improve and the U-Rig bite will heat up as well.
If you are looking for a trophy fish or just a fun day of fishing on the lake, the next couple of months are a great time. To start your spring fishing off well, all kids 16 and under will fish for free with an accompanying adult.
