Spring Lake Lanier Striper Fishing Report

Home About The Striper Experience Fishing Trip Rates Fishing Photos

Spring is here and the fishing is warming up as well.  We finally have steady water temperatures in the low to mid 50's, which has the bait moving shallow with the stripers right behind them.  We have had some good trips in the last couple of weeks and are looking forward to it continuing to get better.

The fish are eating on top with most fish eating herring on the flat lines and planner boards.  Fish are also being caught throwing Capt Mack's Bucktails to boiling fish and by blind casting to grassy or rocky banks.  The bigger fish are eating the live bait, but the smaller fish on lighter spinning outfits are a lot of fun.   As the water temperatures warm into the high 50's, the big fish (20+ pounds) bite will just get better as well.  We are going to be targeting big fish starting in the next couple of weeks up river and on warmer flats throughout the lake.

If you are looking for a trophy fish or just a fun day of fishing on the lake, the next couple of months are a great time.  To start your spring fishing off well, all kids 16 and under will fish for free with an accompanying adult.
